What else can I do to help Geo-Locate myself?
Trouble with Location Services? Let’s Try This Solution
We’re sorry you’re having difficulty with location services, but we have a helpful tip that might resolve the issue.
How Google Maps Helps with Location Verification
One way to improve your location accuracy is to use Google Maps. We compare the Wi-Fi networks in your area against Google’s Wi-Fi database. If your device can see any available networks on this database, we can use that information to determine your precise location. You do not need to actually connect to these networks—just being able to detect them in your area is enough.
Steps to Locate Yourself on Google Maps
- If you’re on your phone, you might see a prompt saying “Google wishes to locate you.” Click ‘Allow’ to proceed, and the map will automatically zoom in to your location.
- If you’re on the newest version of Google Maps and do not see the gray dot above the “man” symbol:
- Click the question mark icon at the bottom right of your screen.
- Then, select ‘Return to classic Google Maps.’ This will switch you to the classic view, where you can click the gray dot to help pinpoint your location.
